Developers reached back to 1836 to name the planned community for the original name of the city of Hernando, Jefferson.
The planned development, on nearly 100 acres at the southeast corner of Jaybird and Holly Springs Roads, is intended to bring something diffferent to the local housing market.
Architect Carson Looney, of Looney Ricks Kiss, says "The Jefferson employs New Urbanist planning principles. Developments such as these are economically sustainable and tend to attract well-educated, high-end buyers. The master planning goal is to create a sense of neighborhood."

There are a number of floorplans approved for the development. The model home is open daily for viewing and four others are approaching completion.
The first phase consists of 66 lots (each lot is an estimated 10,000 - 12,000 square feet). A community pool is planned for a future phase. Homes at Jefferson start at $300,000.
Jefferson Group, LLC is comprised of Richie Burnette and Roy Holmes of Hernando, Pat Davis of New Albany, and Rip Walker of Memphis.
